Summer Ready Hair with Moroccan Oil

Summer Ready Hair with Moroccan Oil

As women in the know we make sure to slap on our SPF moisturisers and sunscreens to protect our skin from the damaging effects of too much sun. Unfortunately we don’t always pay the same attention to our hair. Sure we maintain our colour, we make regular visits to the hairdresser for our trims and styling but once we see the sun, sand and sea – it’s all about the tan and long days spent lounging in the heat, hair knotted on top the head, taking the full force of the sun. Here at Beautyfeatures.ie we wax lyrical on the amazing hair care brand that is Moroccan Oil, not only do the likes of Kim Kardashian, Emily Blunt, Salma Hayek and Laura Whitmore sing its praises at every beauty mag opportunity, but it actually does what it says on the tin. Enriched with argan and essential oils, UV guards and vitamins A and E the Moroccan Oil hair care range beautifies and protects the hair. So we’ve put together some of your common hair care concerns during summer and well – we’ll let Moroccan Oil do the rest!

Concern: How do I stop my hair losing moisture?

Dry, dehydrated hair is the number one hair issue we face during the summer months. Unfortunately hair is unable to repair itself so it’s up to us to replace what has been taken out. If your hair is dry, brittle and even a little on the crunchy side we recommend using an intense hydrating mask like Moroccan Oil Intense Hydrating Mask , at least once a week. After shampooing, apply the mask. Step out of the shower and blast your hair with a blow dryer set to a medium heat, this will encourage the hair to expand, allowing the mask to penetrate the hair shaft. Once your hair is warm, allow the mask to set for another 10 minutes then rinse thoroughly. We also recommend the Moroccan Oil Treatment Oil . Fortified with essential nutrients, argan oils and UVA and UVB protective guard this leave in oil will restore shine; strengthen the hair from root to tip by infusing hydration directly into the hair shaft. This is the flagship product for the Moroccan Oil collection and is feted by celebrities, stylists and women the world over. I think we’ve got your moisturisation concern covered!

Concern: How do I keep my colour from fading?

Salt, sun and chlorine are major factors in turning your once glossy coloured locks into a faded, lifeless tangle of tresses. It is vital in order to preserve your home or salon colour or indeed the colour that god gave you by using a shampoo and conditioner that not only defends against UVA and UVB rays but that hydrates the hair also. Moroccan Oil Hydrating Shampoo and Moroccan Oil Hydrating Conditioner will protect and moisturise keeping the sun from frying your hair, as a tip apply Moroccan Oil Hydrating Conditioner to your ends before swimming, this acts as a barrier to the salt water or chlorine drying out the hair.

Concern: How can I minimise frizz?

If the humidity causes your hair to frizz like an electrified cotton ball it’s time to look at what styling products you are using. Even if you don’t straighten your hair, a smoothing treatment will aid in eliminating frizz as they act by filling in the hairs cuticle supporting smooth, shiny hair. Try Moroccan oil Hydrating Style Cream , apply a pump or two to damp or dry hair and continue to style as usual. This brilliant styling cream eliminates frizz, adds shine and definition and texturises to enhance your styling. Moroccan Oil also offer the amazing Moroccan Oil Frizz Control Spray, delivering weather resistant properties it weightlessly protects the hair from weather and humidity conditions. Wave goodbye to your frizz concerns!

Concern: How do I only treat the areas that need treating?

Do you suffer from dry split ends, oily roots or a combination of both? Treating the area of concern rather than over conditioning your whole hair may leave it limp, flat on top and rather oily all over. A hydrating conditioner is vital but if your hair is fine or quite flat on top only apply the conditioning treatments from your mid shaft to the ends. Generally you will find that hair isn’t dry at the roots, so you can skip that area. For more tips on beautiful hair check out "Timeless Hair Care Tips".

Concern: What exactly is a swimmers shampoo?

Relatively new to the hair care industry swimmers shampoos are designed to break down chlorine but unless you’re aiming for the next Olympics in the 400m Freestyle I’d give it a miss. Even though it breaks down chlorine it’s extremely drying to the hair. If you swim regularly throughout the summer we recommend Moroccan Oil Clarifying Shampoo , it’s formulated with essential oils and is designed to clear hair of product build up, chlorine and environmental impurities. It’s also perfect to use prior to colour treatments to ensure an even distribution of colour.

Concern: Why does my hair tangle easier in summer?

Hair that’s been battered by summers elements ( sun, salt, chlorine, air conditioning) may prove difficult to comb through. If you try to detangle your hair using force then you are going to cause your hair to break. We recommend using a wide tooth comb, start at your ends and work up to your roots. Make use of a multi-tasking product like Moroccan Oil Restorative Hair Mask . Apply after shampooing and leave in for 5-7 minutes, rinse thoroughly and you hair will not only be more manageable but beautifully healthy too. Why not apply through the mid lengths to tips before heading out for a day on the beach. Not only providing UV guard it will preserve moisture as the sun heats up!

Concern: To trim or not to trim?

Split ends can be caused by numerous issues, including heat styling which we tend to do more of during summer as we battle to keep our unruly, frizzy hair in order. Unfortunately the only way to be rid of split ends is to trim them off or they’ll continue to split.

Concern: What styling products should I use during summer?

The Moroccan Oil range of styling products not only allows you to style and create, curl and straighten but protects from the harshness of UV and sun damage, whilst moisturising, nourishing and beautifying the hair. If your hair is curvaceous try Moroccan Oil Curl Control Mousse or Moroccan Oil Curl Defining Cream . If you love a straightener or curling tongs make use of Moroccan Oil Heat Styling Protection Spray or if you’re looking for volume look no further than Moroccan Oil Volumising Mousse – and to set it all in place, Moroccan Oil Luminous Hair Spray .
