Top Tips for Caring for your Skin in your 30s

Top Tips for Caring for your Skin in your 30s

Turning 30 is a pivotal moment in most people’s lives. You feel more confident and comfortable in your skin, you care less about what other people think, you are starting to know exactly what you want from life…But it’s also ok to admit that the ageing process does cross your mind now and again. As skin cell turnover rate slows down and you start noticing the first subtle signs of ageing, you might start to worry. Well, we are here to tell you that you don’t have to! With a few simple tweaks to your skincare routine and some help from the most revolutionary skincare products available at Beautyfeatures.ie, you’ll be enjoying life in your 30s with a healthy and youthful glow!

1. Take Time to Cleanse

Remember in your 20s coming home late and relying on those terrible make up wipes that sandpapered your skin? Time to ditch those and trade up to a proper cleanser, as cleansing deeply and effectively in the evening allows your skin to renew and replenish itself. Dermalogica UltraCalming Cleanser helps combat skin sensitivity caused by exposure to pollution, harsh climate, stress, hormonal imbalance, and irritating cosmetic products. It contains no artificial fragrance or colour, making it ideal for all skin types.

2. Experiment with Retinol

Your night time routine is the perfect time to follow a cleanse with Retinol (a form of Vitamin A), the tried-and-tested, proven ingredient for building collagen, reverse photo ageing, smoothing skin texture and making lines, wrinkles, and pores less visible. We recommend starting with a light formulation that is not irritating: The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion is ideal. It contains pure retinol in a protective capsule system for sustained delivery over time, without the irritation traditionally associated with its use. Start by using it once or twice a week, then build up to The Ordinary Retinol 0.2 in Squalane as your skin gets used to this powerful ingredient.

3. Always Use Sunscreen

During the day, sunscreen is a must when you’re starting to guard from the first signs of aging. Prevention starts with daily SPF, whether the sun is shining or not. UVB rays can cause sunburns, and UVA rays trigger premature aging such as brown spots, wrinkles, and the breakdown of healthy skin cells. Choose a hight SPF like The INKEY List Zinc Oxide, with added Hyaluronic Acid, or Dermalogica Solar Defense Booster SPF50, which you can also mix in with your foundation or existing moisturiser. Remember also that using SPF is essential if you are using Retinol, as it can make the skin more sensitive to sun damage.

4. Don’t Forget Your Eye Cream

You’ve heard it time and time again: the skin around your eyes is the thinnest on our body, and one of the first areas to show your age. So time to do something about it, and apply a hydrating eye cream like Dermalogica AGE Smart Age Reversal Eye Complex both day and night to keep fine lines at bay, patting it gently with your ring finger. Another option is a water-based serum like The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG that will visibly reduce the appearance of dark circles, under-eye bags, and puffiness. And who wouldn’t want that?

5. Scrub Up

In your 30s more than ever, it is important to exfoliate once or twice a week in order to remove any dead skin cells and impurities. Make sure to use a mild scrub at night, so your skin has time to recover. You’ll need something gentle with just the right amount of grit, like Dermalogica Skin Prep Scrub, with finely granulated Corn Cob Meal and soothing botanical extracts.

6. Treat Your Skin, Treat Yourself

Don’t forget to treat your skin at least once a week: flood it with moisture with a hydrating masque like Seoulista Super Hydration Instant Facial - a Korean beauty favourite for a reason! And since your 30s are a particularly busy time of your life, don’t forget to make the most of your treatment time and truly relax: lie down, put some music on, and close your eyes – from now on, make beauty time an all-round ‘me time’!
