Are you making these Body Moisturising Mistakes?

Clarins Face and Body Care I Beautyfeatures.ie

Self-confessed skin care obsessives love a potion of anti-ageing goodness, we slather and coat our fabulous faces in finery, but when it comes to our bodies, many of us have a slightly different approach or no approach at all. It’s time to show a little love and TLC, particularly in the colder weather - your body will thank you for it! Protecting it from damage caused by the cold, wind and central heating, we help you to avoid the top 5 most common moisturising mistakes.....

Skipping body parts

Without fail most of us will moisturise our legs, usually because the skin tends to be dry after hair removal and it’s on our moisturisation radar! But even though we don’t de-fuzz other areas it doesn’t mean we shouldn't be moisturising them. Your tummy, arms, chest and back are all exposed to the drying elements that we fiercely protect our facial skin from such as, hot water, heating, air conditioning and wind, so spread the love and don’t neglect those hard to reach areas, start the slathering stat!

Moisturising only when the skin is scaly.

Prevention is always better than a cure, so don’t wait until your skin is dry and cracked before grabbing your bottle of moisturising magic. You wouldn’t hold off on sunscreen until after your were sunburnt, so why should your moisturising routine be any different? Forming a new habit can be a challenge, so why not put your bottle or tub of luscious lotion in an obvious spot (right in your eye’s view from the shower) – you’ll use it more frequently that way.

Thinking moisturising is a chore

Perhaps your time poor and the thoughts of indulging in a time-consuming task like moisturising your entire body puts you off. Get your hands on a product that makes it all so much easier like Dermalogica Conditioning Body wash which you can use in the shower and use the Dermalogica Ultimate Buffing Cloth for the perfect application. Follow with Dermalogica Body Hydrating Cream for the ultimate body moisturising experience.

Drying yourself thoroughly before application

Don’t fret if you haven’t dried yourself completely as slightly damp skin allows for better absorption and helps to lock in all the hydration. So instead of rubbing yourself vigorously with the towel, just gently pat until your almost dry and apply your moisturiser. Perfect for the lazy in all of us!

Moisturising just once a day

Who doesn’t love a long, hot shower? Well your skin can do without it! The hot water will dry out your skin, so if you’re showering more than once a day, make sure to moisturise more than once a day too. We’re not talking drowning yourself in creams but moisturising once in the morning and once before bed will absolutely result in softer, smoother, cleaner skin. Sound excessive? Try for a week and there’s no doubt you will feel and see the difference.
